A rose (iPhone) by any other name.

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo posted that the company plans to release the iPhone 16 Pro in “black, white (or silver), grey (I think it’s natural titanium), rose.”

The non-Pro models, he predicts, will come in the same hues as the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, though he notes the colors could “look different,” despite having the same name.

AI art is gobbling up DeviantArt’s creator revenue sharing.

AI art isn’t just showing up on the platform in droves, but DeviantArt is actively promoting the bots that pedal it, writes Slate.

And those bots are reportedly earning tens of thousands of dollars, “monopolizing” the site’s revenue stream using generative models perhaps trained on the very artists the bots supplant.

Safe and accounted for.

All of the crew of Blue Origin’s NS-25 flight have emerged from the capsule, safe and sound. That includes Ed Dwight, who was selected as the first Black Astronaut candidate in the early days of NASA’s space program but never went to space before today.

“I thought I really didn’t need this in my life,” he said during Blue Origin’s livestream, “but now I need it in my life.”

Sonos is launching something on Tuesday at 9AM ET.

The company is sending emails out that say its “most requested product” is coming on May 21st. Could the release be its rumored Sonos Ace wireless headphones?

Blue Origin’s capsule is back on Earth.

The capsule parachuted down to the desert too, landing shortly after the New Shepard rocket. One of its parachutes didn’t deploy fully, but Blue Origin’s webcasters say the company has tested for that possibility and that it’s fine. They added that the crew are reporting they’re fine.

Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket has safely touched back down in Texas.

The reusable rocket that just took the NS-25 capsule into space has now touched down in the desert of West Texas.

Blue Origin’s NS-25 mission just reached space.

At about 3:46 into the flight, Blue Origin confirmed its NS-25 mission had passed into space, and its astronauts were in zero g space. The capsule is now descending back to earth.

We might be about to witness Microsoft’s M1 moment.

Blue Origin has started the livestream for its next crewed launch.

Live coverage should be starting soon for the 25th launch of New Shepard, which hasn’t taken humans aboard in about two years after a booster malfunction on an uncrewed mission paused its space tourism launches in September 2022.

Blue Origin’s rocket is vertical on the launch pad and the company now targeting 9:52AM ET for launch.

Apple reportedly has an AirTag follow-up coming next year.

That’s according to Mark Gurman, who writes in his latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg that the company will release the new version of its item tracker “around the middle of next year” with improvements to its chip and location tracking.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on the company’s employee NDAs.

Vox reported yesterday, following two high-profile departures, that OpenAI’s exit terms include revoking employees’ vested equity in the company if they ever disparage it or acknowledge the terms exist. OpenAI told the outlet it hadn’t revoked equity before, and wouldn’t in the future.

Those terms were real and “should never have been,” Altman posted today, adding that he’s “genuinely embarrassed” by them.

Caterpillar’s colossal electric mining truck has a job to do.

The 240-ton Caterpillar 793 will be tested by Brazilian mining company Vale in the country’s Minas Gerais state, according to Construction Equipment Magazine.

Gigantic trucks running on alternative fuel sources are becoming more commonplace. For example, Komatsu, which has several electric drive mining trucks, will power a future 500-ton 930E truck using General Motors’ Hydrotec hydrogen fuel cells.

Is Samsung’s Snapdragon X ARM laptop imminent?

Yes, in a few days, says German tech site WinFuture, citing unnamed sources (and Samsung’s site). That includes a 16-inch Galaxy Book 4 Edge Pro that’s equipped with the highest-end version of the Snapdragon X ARM chip that’s meant to take on Apple’s custom M-series chips.

Expect other Snapdragon X laptops soon, including from Microsoft, Dell, and Asus.

Winamp wants your ideas.

The company announced that it’s “opening up its source code” and invites developers to contribute to the Windows version of its music player. It’s also releasing a mobile app in July. As ZDNet points out, the company will still own and decide what goes into the official version.

Winamp didn’t immediately reply to a request for more information, like whether and what open-source license it’ll use.

Your iPhone trade-ins might be a little more valuable on Monday.

Apple retail stores will offer a little more money for iPhone trade-ins in the US and Canada for people upgrading to the iPhone 15 series of phones from May 20th to June 3rd, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

He didn’t say what the new values will be. At the moment, the most Apple offers is $630 for an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

GM staged a blackout to demonstrate how EVs can power an entire home — and also shore up our aging grid infrastructure.

YouTube Music looks a little nicer on iOS now.

The app’s “Now Playing” screen has a gradient background now, as 9to5Google spotted. Also, the three tabs at the bottom aren’t on a visually separate bar anymore, though you can still swipe up to reveal them.

If you don’t see it at first, try swiping the app closed from the app switcher and relaunching — worked for me.

I would watch the heck out of a good Sierra On-Line documentary.

Ken and Roberta Williams are some of the most influential video game designers ever, and also founded a video game publisher that did a whole lot more — until Sierra On-Line became a victim of massive accounting fraud and dramatically collapsed.

Vice’s Waypoint published this must-read feature story about it, before it, too, became a victim. Now, an authorized Sierra documentary is coming:
